Why is Switch 2 backwards compatibility so important? Pure Nintendo Podcast E86

This week on the Pure Nintendo Podcast, Jemma and Kirk delve into the latest news, which dabbles in Switch successor updates from Nintendo itself.

Last week, we put Mario in the spotlight to celebrate his recent titles and anniversaries. This week we discuss backwards compatibility for the Switch successor. Sure, we assumed it was a thing, but now we know. Why is that so great? We also look at the release date update and recent investor news.

There’s also a lot of music news this week, including new soundtracks for the Nintendo Music app, Jemma has been spending even more time with the app and gives her thoughts. Meanwhile, both Jemma and Kirk have stories about hearing songs from Nintendo’s catalogue in the real world.

Kirk recently joined an online session to preview the upcoming JRPG The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak II. He regales us with the game’s features as we look forward to this release in February 2025 (on Valentine’s Day, no less). In the meantime, you can check out our review of the original The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak.

We’re also playing a few other games this week, from virtual pinball shenanigans to the new Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania DLC (which is excellent by the way), and an interesting shmup called Angel at Dusk.
