Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet players ate more than 432 million sandwiches over the past two years, according to The Pokémon Company. And, better yet, most of those sandwiches were grotesque creations with some combination of butter, mayo, wasabi, peanut butter, tomato, green pepper, and ham, among other ingredients — the top sandwich creations, per an infographic published Monday.
What this tells me is that a lot of people were making sandwiches for breeding Pokémon — butter, peanut butter, ham, and banana are easy ways to make Egg Power sandwiches. These are also really common shiny-hunting ingredients, so that should explain a lot of them, too. But that’s just a guess! The Pokémon Company didn’t elaborate on what people were doing with the ingredients.
There are plenty of other fun statistics and numbers in the thread published on Monday, like the most-caught Pokémon by type. For normal-type Pokémon, that was Deerling, Fletchling, and Lechonk; for flying, it’s Rookidee, Bombirdier, and Flamigo; and for fire, that’s Growlithe, Litleo, and Charcadet. If you’re wondering what Pokémon people challenged most in Tera Raids, it’s Charizard, Blissey, Ditto, Cinderace, and Eevee.
The most common TM created by trainers? Take Down, Drain Punch, Tera Blast, Mud-Slap, and Protect. As for the Pokémon most commonly added to a team, that’s Gyarados, Garchomp, Lucario, Fletchinder, Floragato, Pawmi, Charcadet, and several others.
It’s a really fun way to look back on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on its two-year release anniversary. Alongside the anniversary, Japanese website Famitsu reported that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were the highest-selling Pokémon games ever in Japan, with more than 8.3 million copies sold. Previously, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green held the title in Japan, according to the website (and a translation from Resetera).
The Pokémon Company hasn’t announced much as to what’s next for the franchise, aside from a teaser that Pokémon Legends: Z-A, a Kalos-region game in the format of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, will be released in 2025.
