With both the AMD Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT graphics cards set to be officially imminently unveiled, a confusing new price leak has left us scratching our heads. Early listings for these cards at Micro Center show prices starting at $649.99 for the RX 9070 and $699 for the 9070 XT, but going as high as $1,100, well above what we’d expect these cards to cost.
The lower end of the scale, if confirmed, would place the cheapest of these AMD gaming GPUs between two of the new Nvidia mid-tier cards, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti, with the potential for them to still be among the best graphics cards for everyday gamers. The higher end, however, would leave these cards costing more than the more powerful RTX 5080, leaving some hope that this pricing data might not be entirely accurate.
Tech retailer Micro Center momentarily listed these AMD GPUs before taking them down, but not before Videocardz captured them. According to Videocardz, two RX 9070 non-XT cards were listed, costing from $649.99 for an ASRock card, up to a very unlikely $1,099 for a PowerColor model.
Several more RX 9070 XT cards were listed, however. The cheapest card was another ASRock card for $699.99, but going as high as $1,100 for another PowerColor card. All of the cards were shown with a February 28 availability date, matching the date that AMD is expected to officially unveil both cards.
Considering that leaked RX 9070 XT specs position it alongside Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti, pricing at the higher end, especially when compared to the more powerful $999 RTX 5080, would make these cards an uncompetitive option for gamers.
The most likely possibility is that this is just placeholder data that was accidentally published (and quickly removed) ahead of the official launch. With AMD’s official announcement coming in mere hours, we won’t have long to wait to see how accurate this pricing data is. We’ll be crossing our fingers that the real pricing for both cards is closer to $600 than $1,100, however.
