AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT stock puts Nvidia to shame, as proved by this new photo

Not only is the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT a fantastic GPU for the money, but a new image of the stock supply at a single retailer should give Nvidia pause for thought. The shot from Overclockers in the UK shows over 1,000 Sapphire 9070 XT cards arranged in a cube ready for purchase, and the company says there are thousands more of each brand as well.

We gave this new GPU a score of 9/10 and an Excellence award in our AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT review, thanks to its incredible performance for the money. AMD has massively caught up with the Nvidia competition when it comes to ray tracing, and its new AMD FSR 4 upscaling tech is vastly superior to FSR 3 as well, with a huge improvement in image quality.

Comparatively, on the day before the RTX 5070 release date, Overclockers said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) it hadn’t received a single RTX 5070 card, and only expected to receive “limited quantities” on launch day. The store does now have one RTX 5070 model in stock from MSI, though it’s priced at £709.99, which is much higher than the GPU’s £539 MSRP, and it has a warning about limited stock too.

In comparison, the Radeon RX 9070 XT supply situation looks like a night and day difference. Overclockers posted the above photo on its forum, after it was posted early by Adrian Thompson, global VP of marketing at Sapphire on X (formerly Twitter). Overclockers confirmed that the cube of Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT cards is indeed solid – it’s not just a wall of boxes surrounding an empty hole. What’s more, the card will genuinely be going for £569 / $610, and Overclockers says it has hundreds of 9070 XT cards in stock at MSRP as well.

It’s not just Sapphire cards that are in huge supply either – Overclockers says it also has thousands of cards each from PowerColor and ASRock as well, with “several hundred” from Asus and Gigabyte too. On this basis, AMD could have won this battle simply by having enough stock to sell, but the fact that the GPU is significantly more powerful than the RTX 5070 makes it a no brainer. This corresponds with feedback we’ve had from other retailers, with one telling us that 9070 XT stock was “much healthier” than the supply of Nvidia RTX 5000 GPUs.

With solid performance, a great price, and apparently plentiful stock, the Radeon RX 9070 XT is the best graphics card you can buy right now in the mid-range sector. If you do want to pick up an Nvidia card, though, make sure you check out our where to buy 5070 page, where we monitor stock of the card at stores around the world.
