If you’re looking to buy a new gaming laptop, but don’t have big bucks to spend, then we’ve uncovered an awesome offer for you. This Acer Nitro V gaming laptop deal enables you to get your hands on a full-on Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 machine for just $649.99, saving you $300 on its usual price at Best Buy.
We can vouch for the quality of this laptop range as well, as we gave it a thorough workout in our Acer Nitro V review. Our review sample of this Acer laptop had a slightly more powerful GPU in the form of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060, but the specs are otherwise identical to the one on offer right now, with an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS CPU and 16GB of RAM.
We were also impressed by this laptop’s IPS screen when we tested it, describing it as “punchy” with vibrant colors and plenty of contrast. It even gives you a 144Hz refresh rate for smooth performance in fast-paced games, and its 1,920 x 1,080 resolution is much better suited to the RTX 4050 than the high-res screens often paired with mobile laptop GPUs, as you actually have a chance of running your games at the screen’s native resolution.
Meanwhile, that Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU gives you a solid entry point into mobile PC gaming for the cheap price, enabling you to run the latest games at decent settings. With just 6GB of VRAM and 2,560 CUDA cores, it’s not as powerful as the 8GB RTX 4060 with its 3,072 CUDA cores, but it’s massively more powerful than the integrated graphics systems found on even lower budget gaming laptops, and will genuinely enable you to play games on your laptop. This GPU also has the benefit of full support for Nvidia DLSS 3, including frame generation, which uses AI to boost your frame rates further.
The eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 CPU is a solid inclusion for such a low price too, but don’t get fooled by the ‘7000’ model number, as this isn’t a Zen 4 CPU. Instead, it’s based on AMD’s older Zen 3+ architecture, which isn’t as fast as the latest Zen 4 and Zen 5 chips, especially in hardcore content creation tasks. However, in our tests, we found that this CPU is absolutely fine for gaming, and it’s a great inclusion in a $649.99 laptop.
It’s also big plus to see 16GB of memory installed in this machine by default, particularly when budget laptops sometimes still commit the crime of only having 8GB installed. The memory is also installed on SODIMMs, rather than being soldered to the motherboard, so you can upgrade it to 32GB with some of the best gaming RAM later.
If there’s one criticism, it’s that the 512GB SSD doesn’t give you much space to install many of the latest blockbuster games at the same time. However, as with the RAM, the SSD is upgradeable, as it uses an M.2 PCIe 4.0 module, so you can swap it out for one of the best gaming SSD options later if you like.
All in all, this is a surprisingly powerful portable PC gaming rig for just $649.99, making it a genuine bargain. If you want to take advantage of this deal, you just need to click on this link here to head to Best Buy.
